Hi

I'm thinking about getting a pair of HD650 and have been looking around for an amp to pair them with.

The system I have is a grundig ps2600 (turntable)->cambridge audio 640P-> MS1/TF10 and probably the HD650s

Will also us it from my ipod and macbook.

If price doesnt matter which of these are the best: Little dot MKIII vs. X-Can V.8 vs. Harmony Design Ear90?

I'm looking for an amp that will work with different phones so I don't have to buy a new one when I buy new phones.

Hm..

I couldn't bring up any specs for the Ear90, but I know the V8 and MKIII sound goos with HD650's. If you go with the V8, you can but the Little Pinkie PSU that will increase the sound quality. Also new tubes help a bit.

The X-CanV8P will have a lot more power. It's a great match IMO. I pair mine with a K702 and it great. The X-Can will put out 600mW into the K701, that's about triple of what they are rated.

Graham Slee Solo can drive HD650 very well, better than Little dot MKIII and X-Can V8.

Yes, agreed it can. Audio-GD C2C is also great for a K701 (tons of extra power). Also great for HD600's.

The MKIII has gain switches to switch from low to high impedance.
Also, David's customer support is 2nd to none.

the Audio-GD C2C has no tubes. I believe I like tubes. The only tube amp I have heard is my friends for his guitar. A messa studio something compared to his "dead panthera guitarist signature one". Of those I prefered the tubes, much more smooth.

I hope the same goes for headphone amps.

Graham Slee Solo is toooooo expensive.

I'm hoping not to blow the $300 line and getting both a pair of headphones and a decent amp for total $500-700

I've found a used X-can v8 for $400, and a used HD650 with clou cable ivory for around $300.

Is the X-can V8 worth the extra $150?

I agree with TON9 - I have the LD MK III and find the gain switches very useful when switching between headphones of different impedence. And Davids customer service is second to none.

Starting to lean against the X-can.

Will the x-can have the same effect from tube rolling as the LD MKIII?
Is it possible to open it without anyone noticing so you still have the warranty?

What's the pros and cons of a tube/SS combo?

I'll probably buy them used, I've just decided to go with the HD650. Hoping to get them from some local but doesn't really matter.

The hd650s with the clou was a guy in Sweden, unfortunately I was to slow
