I'm thinking about using one of these for computer audio, but I really don't know much about the brand. I know, however, that chinese hifi-equipment often are very good, and already got a chinese tube preamp and hybrid poweramp to power my B&W N805s. Does anyone know if the components used are of high quality? The price is very good, so if anyone can verify the quality of the components, I'm thinking about ordering one to listen for myself.

330$ for a dac with PCM63K and df1704 ? For those chips alone, it'd cost you 75$ at digikey. The components look good, good xformers and elna silmic all around. I couldn't diy that for that cheap.

Thanks for a quick reply. So you think I should go for it?

I currently own a EMU 1212m, but I am going to replace this because of lack of linux-drivers (I'm creating a disk- and fanless computer for my livingroom, so I need linux). What card would you suggest could deliver a descent digital signal for my DAC?

Probably one of these http://www.rme-audio.com/english/linux/

Yes. I'm aware that RME probably is the best when it comes to linux-support. I have also looked at the Audiophile 2496. Is the soundquality about the same for cheap soundcards as for more expensive ones when using the digital outs? I'm thinking about using spdif to feed the DAC.

Consider that you may not hear the differences that much if you are using lesser end equipment. It would be wise to invest in a glass toslink and power conditioner also.

I consider the RME 2-3 steps better than AP2496 because it has better clocks and you can use optical out which sounds better to me (in the soundcard instance).

I have the solid state counterpart DAC board from LITE.

The place is quite reputable, I haven't gotten to assembling the DAC yet but given the quality of their other offerings, I say go for it!
