Imo the three best looking headphone amplifiers.

Well the B-52 and the Orpheus were definitely high up for me... I'd include things like the HA2002/HA5000 I just love anything with a good looking bit of wood. Plus if you have the matching headphones the synergistic look is just yum.

I'd definitely put the Yamamoto HA-02 up there:

I'd have to 2nd the Yamamoto, and it looks as good inside as out.

note: can't find pictures of that one crazy headphone amp with some 28 tubes.

that's one crazy amp, only thing that I can see that would improve it would be a non switching mode power supply for the tube filaments but that would greatly increase the cost of the power supply and the gradual increase in valve heater voltage would be slightly trickier to engineer. There does appear to be an over use of PCB space as well, I'm sure it could have been built with smaller pcb's (reducing costs) by not mounting all the components flat. I'm not sure it's as high end as it claims aswell, it just doesn't seem complex enough, the midrange pre amp i'm using at the moment has close to 120 transistors in it and it's not even "balanced". I just don't understand how this can be the best amplifier (or amoung the best) with so little complexity.

it's beutifull inside too though

I'm a big fan of DIY amp value... But I think this thread will CLEARLY illustrate the advantages of owning a commercial product.

It would certainly be labor-intensive and costly to DIY an amp that looks as nice as these, but it's not impossible.
