This thread is to list headphones you have owned (or heard) with papery treble*

These are the first of mine that come to mind:

Philips Fidelio L1
Sennheiser HD700
Sennheiser HD560 Ovation
AKG K7XX

Any others?

I think you need to describe what you mean by 'papery'.

I'm guessing you mean that artificial sound that you get with wireless headphones like Bose QC35, etc.. I didn't find Sony XM3 to sound artifical like Bose ANC headphones, although it has terrible bloated bass quality.

You mean kinda digital sounding? AKG N90Q sounded like that.

Similarly, the DAC RME ADI 2 has that kind of effect on headphones. Has that digital sounding-ness to it.

Dry, grainy, lack of sweetness and air, artificial, unnatural.
Still too vague. lol. It's hard to describe.

Think of cardboardy bass...only the opposite.

Anymore candidates for papery treble? Anyone? I need to add to my collection.

I found the Audioquest NightOwl and NightHawks to be not papery at all, despite the diaphragm being made of paper.
