I am using commercial outboard noise dissipation, Galvanic isolation and reclocking. I just installed a $25 Startech PCIE USB card. I cut the Vbus +5VUSB and patched in linear power. sorry no pics but you can gather this is easy to do. You can also make a cable that "injects" the Vbus power. Although I would never use a port on a motherboard. This was much cheaper than Sotm. I also replaced the buffer caps, diodes and resistors. All you need is a good hub IC on it and this has one of the best. It is a SAS card. Scsi attached serial bus. Or Scsi over Sata.
