Just a quick question. I have an amp on the way, and have heard that it should be hooked up to the line out connection...

Simply plugging the amp into the back of the soundcard (x-fi prelude) is what I'm planning to do.

Is line out just simply the headphone out on the back of the x-fi?

No, but that will work. The line out is what you are meant to hook up for a stereo speaker configuration. Usually, it will be the "front" jack.
