I'm looking for a pair of eaerphones that will block out the chatter at my library. 

ideally, i'd like complete silence without turning on any music. could you guys recommend anything?

 

please help, i'd love to be able to focus again. 

 

i've heard good things about etymoic's mc2. will it really block out people talking?

The HF5 willbe better pick over MC series if need supperior soundquality and Noise Isolation is same on these Etymotic IEMs.

try noise-blocking ear muffs, like ones used at construction sites?

If you're not going to play music, any Etymotic will do. I'd just go with custom earplugs from Kozee, though.

$100+ commercial custom fits ones or the $10 Self custom fit earplugs. Can even toss on a pair of earmuffs if they don't block out everything.
