Hi all,

I foolishly sold my LG V10 phone, and I'm missing it tremendously. My s8+ can't compare, and connecting an external DAC is too much of a hassle.

I've narrowed it to two options: the LG V20, or the Fiio X5 iii, both on eBay.

I would have thought the X5 iii would be far better than the LG V20, but I found it hisses a lot. I don't remember the LG V20 hissing.

I know I can use an adapter which lowers noise, but honestly - I'd rather just get an LG V20 if it's a better unit. From what I've read, it is.

(In my experience, even the LG V10 was a better source than the Fiio!).

Thanks for any help!

Be mindful that V20 sounds significantly different from V10 (=more analytical).
I prefer V10 by far (warmer, with good bass and more relaxed treble), and V10 camera is epic (better than V20).

In my opinion, forget X5-iii. You'll find the UI clunky and unintuitive, the autonomy is mediocre at best, and you won't find the big bass from V10 without EQ-ing. Built quality is nice though.

If you like the V10 that much, you may enjoy the Opus #1, which is roughly the same price as V20 and cheaper than X5-iii. No BT and WiFi, but a sound that is closer to V10 except for the brighter treble and a premium UI and autonomy.

Thank you for your answer. I do miss the V10, and I agree completely with your findings on the camera. I took some shots with the V10 people can't believe a cell phone camera took them. It may take better pics than m S8+.

I think I'll have to sell my Fiio X5 iii, and use the V20 in the meantime. The S8+ can't power my headphones properly, and the Fiio hisses like crazy (I'd pick the S8+ over the Fiio, by the way. It's much more stable, and with IEMs, it doesn't hiss at all. It just has issues with hungrier phones).

Thanks for your thoughts!
