LETSHUOER S12 - Next big planar? (Impressions & Discussion)

if they are cutting out, the 2 pin prolly broke from the wires partially, It's fixable.
How would I go about fixing it?

Ultimately all I care about is having a functional pair of IEM's. If I can patch these ones back together to the point they work I'll be happy. I was counting on these to last me at least a couple years like my Tin T4's did. I don't have the funds to upgrade and sidegrade and sample new pairs regularly like some folks here. Just want a dependable set that sounds good.

I'd guess maybe you need to re-solder the wires to the 2 pin or driver.. I have modified more than 10 of these and its not that hard but obviously takes some work.

Using the long wide bore tips that came with the Truthears Zero on my Shortbus modded S12 = bliss

Correct me if I am worng but Pro has the exact same frequency response as the set has not changed but added a modular cable?
They (barely) mentioned it has updated tuning on their site. Ian has only measurements for the S12 Pro. But comparing to HBB and Supers measurements of the S & Z 12s it does look different. Mainly the sub bass is elevated over a tamed upper mid.

Not worth buying for me have the Z12 and S12 (found it in my lunch bag!!) on Qudelixs but worth the premium for first time S12 buyers imo.

I must emphasize too, the wide bore is a must have. Now i use bgvp w01 and kz twisted core, it miraculously open up the transparency, separation and air. They cost 2 dollars. The down side is they are unusualy short, 8.1mm, which seems to effect the sound stage.

I'm looking forward to get a tall wide bore at any price. I'm not sure zendra or cpxxx variant is as tall and wide.

The Aet07 is a little narrower but it's taller. Still much worse than bgvp w01.

A quick note to hiby fc4 pairing 340mw 4.4bal. it is great, it passes my bass test about quality and delicate quantity. however I still think 340mw is too much for a iem. Its even more than portable desktop amp. 5% volume give too loud.

Does anyone use s12 with desktop amp with similar 340 milliwatts?

I just bought an FC4 last week. It drives the S12 great. It’s a nice update to the FC3.

My Topping DX3Pro+ (1.5W) drives my S12s just fine ( vol.=-35db LG), and they are much livelier than driving them with L&P W2 (250mW balanced)

HBB showed substantial differences on the Z12 and S12, which turned out to not be the case at all (see VSG's measurements that match Shuoer's).

With the poor marketting I don't think anybody knows for sure, but better to wait for comparisson in the same rig at least.

yeah the stem on the Truthears Zero is a lot longer than most, so the tips that come with it are similarly long. They make up for the sort of short nozzle of the S12

Hey, the short nozzle and relatively shallow instertion is one of the things I really like about my S12s! With my favorite foam tips they fit and sound great.
