Let's play a game, it's called...."count the ipods"

to me, it's almost uncool to have an ipod now. everyone has one and they're so overplayed that it feels uncool to have one. it just signifies that you're just a lemming and doing what everyone else is doing. still, i love my nano because of its size and portability.

I'm kind of ashamed to have an iPod (I go to Cal)... but I do take solace that mine is a 2nd gen 20 gigger (I think) and I don't used the white earbuds. It's a monster compared to what's out there now. The biggest iPod created (physical dimensions--the 1st gen was only the 5 gig model, and was slightly smaller than my 20 gig). I got it when they were phasing out the 2nd gens for the 3rd gens, so it was cheaper. I've had it for nearly 3 years and it's still going (though maybe not so strong anymore). Still, it serves me well and I'm glad I got it. I want it to last til I graduate (Spring 2007). I really hope my next portable mp3 player will not be an iPod, though I'll get what's good. While it's kind of lame to join the iPod craze, it's lamer not to buy one even if it's the best player for you just because the iPod craze is kind of lame.

Yeah, it is much cooler to go on this site and poke fun of people just because they are using stock buds and have inferior equipment. I'm not ashamed that i use to rock ibuds. Personally, I never felt superior because i have an ipod. You come off sounding very arrogant because i bet you think you are all cool by flashing your set up.

depends which ipod you have really, two of my mates have the first gen one, i personnally have black and white 4th gen 20 gb when it was first released. Its beaten the hell out of. i dont like seeing pristine ones, unless its a video as who wants to watch a video through a scratched screen

The worse type are the non-ipod owners who thinks they are so cool by not owning an ipod. If you don't want an ipod, you better have a good reason(which there are plenty) because it is the obvious benchmark for portable music.

anyway.. i think its cool more ppl are enjoying their music.

yes, cal is swarming with ipods. Personally, i like em and don't have anything against the ipod, i do however have something against the white earbuds. hopefullly my SR60, PX100 and UE SP5 will encourage people to replace their ibuds, i've already got two people and am currently working on my roommate. in any case i like my ipod and couldn't imagine using any other player (2nd gen ipod mini-blue).

I don't mind iPods too much - I just mind the people who use them, sometimes.

For example, this kid in my sister's class (Grade 5, by the way) came to school with an iPod mini hanging around his neck. So, she being as familiar as iPods as possible because we own one, asks him what songs he has on it. The kid replies "I don't know, but Ive got an iPod!". Then she asks him if he knows how to turn it on, and he replies no. Turns out it had no batteries, no songs - he just puts it on the table beside him to be cool.

She came home laughing.

The problem isn't that some people prefer the ibuds, but that they flash it around. Yes, it happens. It marks them as ipod owners, and all the so-called status that comes with it. People would look at my player, pull out their ipod or bring attention to their ibuds, and scoff. Course, they're jokes to me, so I let it slide har har.

EDIT: I do have an ipod now. Just use it for a mp3 player. I don't need it to make me feel/look cool, cuz I already am.

Otherwise here in NYC, it's really a sea of iBuds. In my commute on Metro North to CT, I see countless iPods.
