Very sad - RIP, I grew up watching the original Star Trek series.
Paid my respects at the EMP here in Seattle. I wonder how Paul Allen is taking the news. Kinda cool to have named one of his company after Spock's half race (Vulcan).

Though an icon and a star, he didn't take himself too seriously.
On the other hand, Leonard Nimoy did take helping others seriously. The letter that he wrote in 1968 to a young fan struggling with a dual heritage demonstrates his empathy for others:
