Hello,

My laptop is not separating the left and right channel through the headphone jack.
Is it possible to fix this by buying a 'cheap' DAC like the 'AudioQuest Dragonfly'?
The headphone I'm using is a Sennheiser Momentum (over-ear)

Thanks in advance!

Is it playing mono audio? If so that may be software and not hardware related. Try looking in the audio settings.
If it isn't software related then getting a DAC should solve the problem. If it is though, you shouldn't need a DAC unless you just really want one.

I tried fiddling with the software but nothing changed.
It's not a pure mono sound. For example when I play a pure left channel audio track, the sound coming from the right has noticeably less volume.

Does your headphone plug have 4 poles (and your headphones have a microphone) or just 3?

My headphone has 4 poles but I'm sure there is nothing wrong with my headphone. When I use it with another device (e.g. my phone), the channels are completely separate.
