Hello all,

I recently spotted that Italian hybrid audio specialists Lector have produced a headphone amplifier called ZUM, which retails for around 850 Euros. I am intrigued to know more about it. Just wondering whether any of you have had the opportunity to hear one, or whether any of you have been considering one? As I haven't seen the ZUM headphone amp discussed here or elsewhere, I thought it would be worth raising the subject here.

My interest in the Lector brand comes from a deep appreciation of their sublime valve CD players (one of which I own myself) and transport/DAC setups. The special qualities of their digital sources leads me to speculate that the ZUM might be well worth seeking out.

Please share any thoughts or info you might have, thanks!

Lector CD players do seem to have a strong following among some TAS reviewers, and as a result, TAS readers, I suspect. I'd like to learn more about this amp - Unfortunate that the web page for the ZUM does not work.

Lector seems to focus its efforts primarily on the Italian market and so the English language pages are poorly maintained. All of the information is available on their Italian website. I don't think we can post full web addresses for things here due to external link spam issues, but it's at lector-audio followed by the .it suffix. Click on the section marked 'Amplificatori Integrati', all the technical info etc is there!

I use a Lector CD player myself and was excited last fall when I saw the Zum listed as a new component. I had some correspondence with the USA distributor. At the time it was to be available in Oct. 08, that moved up to Jan 09 and I have not heard from them so I don't think it's available in the US. I just e mailed Lector a couple of weeks ago, inquiring about the ZUM, and I did not receive a response. So that's the story
