Leaning toward the AKG k271s but...

Make sure you let them burn in before you draw any conclusions. They were very harsh and bass shy for me before 50 hours.

apologies for hijacking this thread - would tubes and 271 complement each other. im planning to get a 271 and use them with my diy morgan jones. cheers.

I also agree. After 50 hours, the phones come alive.

Yes, the Sensitivity. The K271 Sensitivity is 91db and the 280 Sensitivity is 113db.

I just got my AKGs this Tuesday and I'm finding them a bit harsh and lacking bass as other people have mentioned. I'm still burning in at the moment (around 40 hours in) so I'm hoping it will improve as you guys said. I'm using it unamped and so far I find it a bit dissapointing coming out of my M Audio Revolution, I was expecting a bit more. Coming out of my AIWA Stereo it sounds a lot better though with much more bass. The AKGs seem to be very dependent on the source and amp. Looks like I'll be needing an amp in the future (damn you head-fi
