Hello,
I am about to purchase LD MKIII to double as amp for my HD650 and also preamp for my swan m200s. I am sure the amp will be do the first job very well, but will my powered speakers benefit from having a separate preamp?

sure they will any source sent inti the dot then the speakers with gain that wonderful tube warmth we all love..
