I'm looking to upgrade my laptop's audio out for headphones. Either PCMCIA or USB. Any advice?

Only time I had an issue with USB soundcards was when I had a Creative Live card from about six years ago and Windows XP. I've had 0 problems with Windows 7 and a different manufacturer. USB audio has gotten a lot better.
