I am looking for an upgrade for my laptop sound card. I have seen some good looking cards in the sonica and the Echo Indigo, the only problem is that I have a limited budget and I also need to get midi in and out capabilities. While these cards seem to have great output I need more then just that. Does anyone know of a external card other then the extigy that has both audio in ports as well as midi in and out while having a good sound output as well? It would also be perfable to get one that has aiso drivers as well so that it will work well with cubase and gigastudio.

I'm looking for the same thing. I've narrowed it down a bit to m-audio and focusrite. Tascams seem nice but aren't known for great driver support.
