I'm pretty naive about PC sound, but Ill be buying a new laptop soon and id like to get a sound card that performs well for electronic music production (house and dubstep). Any recommendations?

The new MBoxs are very nice, and you're not locked into protools only as they've opened them up for other programs to capitalise upon. Highly regarded components and sufficient I/O for the various price levels.

That's where my money would be going in your position.

There's a lot of options out there, you're best to define some of your requirements and existing setup to get decent feedback, and then perhaps to ask on some production focused forums.
