In terms of Lampizator models, I'm sure that is always under review.  There is a lot of activity at the top end (Big 7, Golden Gate) so the Lite 7 makes sense. 
There's a big price differential between the two.  If the sound of the Lite 7 and the Big 7 is close, the L7 could be quite tempting!  (I've heard the Big 7 but not the Lite 7).

Power is a key ingredient in making the Lampizators sing.  When I reviewed the DSD DAC, I had much better results simply by changing the AC Cable to one from IsoMike!

Sorry I’m still lost. Can you point me to the page for the Big 7 HeadDac? I can only find one page for the Head Dac L7 and one with B7 headphone option.

I just wrote a review on the LampizatOr Lite 7 DAC, which I found amazing.

However, recently, I had an opportunity to review the LampizatOr Lite 7 DAC (which I ended up buying).  Although the Amber DAC Plus was very good, the Lite 7 took it up several notches and, let me tell you, it's amazing!

Although I have had a Lampizator DAC for almost two years, this is my first post here...
 
Depending on my mood I switch between two DAC's, an Audio Aéro Prestige and the Lampizator 4.
I upgraded them with Rike capacitors, which was a considerable improvement for both players.
When using the Lampizator, I prefer its DSD circuit, and for that I convert all my material to DSD using JRiver.
 
Now my question:
Would it be a good idea to modify the Lampizator to enable it for direct I2S input? And then use it with something like this:

Would that be an improvement sound-wise?
Of course that would then have to go via the PCM circuit as this I2S bridge does not do DSD.
 
Does anybody know of a way to play native DSD directly via I2S?

I haven't tried up sampling non DSD material to DSD in JRiver.  Thanks for the tip!  I'll have to give that a go!

JRiver is way inferior to HQ Player or Foobar for up conversion to DSD. Foobar is free and you can download HQP in demo form to check out for yourself at no cost.
 
I would do that before trying i2s, which wont work with Lampi's "chip less" DSD implementation anyway.
 
The way to improve Lampi DSD some more is to (if possible, used is fine) trade up to a Level 7 big bottle Dac, ie a Lite7, Big7 or Golden Gate. The big bottle DHT tubes LOVE DSD.

Can the DSD-only DAC also play PCM files?  If so what does the DAC play them at?

No idea about PCM chips in the Lampi Dacs. Lukasz never says.
 
DSD-only can ONLY play DSD files. To play PCM files, you have to upconvert the PCM file to DSD on the fly with either JRiver (worst), Foobar or HQ Player. You can also convert the files offline, but that takes up storage space. Make sure you have a powerful enough PC for converting to DSD128 and higher.

I'm guessing that HQ Player will become much more popular when it gets an interface to the Roon Labs software.  Then you should have an easy to use front end for HQ Player playback and upsampling.

I will sure give foobar and hqplayer a try to compare them with jriver when up-converting to DSD...
And thanks for pointing out that I2S will not work with the Lampizator's chipless design :-|
Maybe it will be better to upgrade the source with a SOTM-like PCI USB card?
I think the Lampi's Combo384 Amanero is already doing a great job of converting USB to I2S...
