LAMPIZATOR THREAD COMMENTS REVIEWS TUNING

I'm guessing @Elect37 could also reference the Horizon tube rolling threads at WBF (tons of posts there), as they would prove somewhat similar in effect, but I haven't looked very closely at Poseidon, so @orrman would know best.

Yes, even at WBF, Poseidon info is still very light, minimal, but Horizon input is huge.

I'm running my Poseidon stock since getting it, only replacing the rectifier to a RCA (minimal improvement but also very minimal investment).
I just moved from running it balanced to single ended and plan to begin rolling it soon. @Elect37 let us know what you end up discovering, the Poseidon specific information is still quite sparse online.
Yea I only have mine for a few months and still waiting on equipment to complete my system

Curious on the reason you’re going from balanced to Single ended?

So I am new to all this “WBF”?

I'm splitting my rack to two side by side shorter height racks and needed longer interconnects so I figured I'd use the opportunity to move from XLR to RCA and cut the number of tubes I need to roll by half (instead of 4/4/1 to 2/2/1 input/output/rectifier). My amp (Riviera Levante) is single ended internally anyway.

WBF is whatsbestforum. In their digital forums section there's a dedicated Lampizator tube rolling thread, Poseidon thread and Horizon thread. Plenty of content to get you reading for days.

Orrman-
I’m interested in knowing more about the Poseidon as I’ve only heard it once. What dac/preamp were you using before the Poseidon and did you notice any tonal or performance difference when switching from balanced to single ended?

I was using a Rockna Wavedream Signature Balanced before the Poseidon and a Wavedream Edition before the Signature.. at times I had a LTA preamp but I've mostly had either headphones amps or integrated amps here.
I did not notice any differences moving from balanced to single ended. Less heat from the tubes counts? :)

I can’t say I’ve noticed any differences due to heat but with my system it definitely shortens my listening! One thing that may make a slight difference is polarity as Lampi’s invert upon output. You’d have to check all the way to your speakers though in order to know if it will make a difference in your setup but it did make a difference in mine (fully symmetrical/balanced circuit). Either way- congrats on your new dac!

Congrats on the Poseidon!

I'm guessing there is a 99.9% chance you've already surfed it, but, if you haven't, WBF Poseidon/Horizon forum threads are really the best source for this discussion. This thread is fairly dormant, with only small signs of life popping up now and then, like a small green plant breaking through in the middle of a desert, LOL!

I often forget this thread even exists.. :scream:

I watch this thread from time to time. I don't have much to add simply because the Pacific has been a piece a gear I added that I could just relax, thoroughly enjoy and never think about again. Similar to the Dave/Mscaler I used before it for so long.

And I try to stay away from WBF because it's a tube rolling addiction waiting to happen lol (even though I'm just not a huge, natural tube roller)

------

As far as the tube vs. balanced, I only have limited experience but in it I didn't notice sonic differences between running quads and pair tubes.. and even though I'm not a huge tube roller, I needed to in order to land on tubes that I really loved. I couldn't have done that rolling if I tried to stick to balanced.. and not even just because of price, but availability is just so scarce for quality/in demand tubes.

I can relate to that- I run a balanced TRP and use quads only. In my system running SE sounds different enough that it’s worth paying the extra $$$ but it gets a little ridiculous when you have to factor in adapters that in some cases equal the cost of the tubes though I know I’m preaching to the choir on this 🥱

Got to hear the posiedon on the weekend paired with HM1, AIC-10 and WA33 JPS Elite. Very very impressed.

Will it replace the WD?

Will it replace the WD?
For my preferences no as I lean into alot of electronic music but if I didn't and only listened to real music it would most likely be the dac I buy.

I’ve finally paired the Playback Designs MPD-8 with my Riviera AIC-10. I only have about 140 hours on it. It’s been a match made in heaven and getting better. Can’t wait to fully break it in. The best I’ve heard the AIC-10.

My favorite piece in my setup right now.
What does this have to do with lampizator? Lol
