Ordered Lake People G103-S MKII at Thomman.de

Will pair it with HD660S2. Apparently they go well together :L3000:

Is anyone here using one of these? I can get this for roughly the same amount as an Atom 2 after shipping and taxes (Europe).

the review article mentions that since there is no muting relay in the g103 mkii, the amp discarges into the headphones when powering on and off. how much of a problem is this in regards to potentionally damaging connected headphones? the atom amp 2 does have such a relay, but with lake people it seems you only get that in the higher tier amps like the g111 and the violectric range.

It is good practice to disconnect your headphones from the amp when powering it on/off. 😉

I keep my headphones permanently connected (cables are routed to keep things tidy).
Never had any issues. Multiple amplifiers & dacs, including LP G103 MKII (works with HD660S2) :L3000:

practicality aside, doesn't that bring the risk of briefly shorting the jack contacts? it seems there is only conflicting info on this.

i'd be using the amp with a 660s2 as well and would also prefer not having to move the cables all the time.
how do you experience the described audio burst with that pairing? or do you not power cycle your g103?

On power-on there is indeed an audible (just) sound. It is not unpleasant nor disturbing (to me).
On power-off there is no sound at all.

In normal circumstances, I press the power switch as I reach for the headphones, so this "sound" has gone unnoticed. I still do believe that it is not an issue. My HD660S2 are playing just fine 👍

After a couple of months listening to music on HD660 S2 powered by Schiit Vali 3, I returned to LP G103-S MKII.
For female vocals, it is a pairing made in heaven:L3000:

Spent most of Saturday with Diana Krall, Patricia Barber and Chantal Chamberland. Bliss 😊

I am aware that more cash may buy better heaven ;) but for the price it is (close to) perfect 👍
