La Fonera is what seems to be a initiative to promote WiFi sharing world-wide. At first the initiative was giving away free WiFi routers to any one who signed up, so long as the person was in any of the countries that La Fonera is active in. But, the promotion is gone and now only our friends in the US can get them via the Starbucks + Fon offer.
