L3000 in eBay

a few weeks ago, I got a pair of L3000 for about 2000 USD as well (or Euro 1600);
but I got an CEC HD53R -V8 thrown into the deal

- Thanks to German Head-fier Chamix
(BTW: the deal went via a German HIFI Forum)

As a long-time & addicted STAX Omega2 user, the closed -dynamic concept needs still a "little bit of getting used to"
I should clarify, however, I wanted the best "isolating" - or rather with least possible sound radiation - phones with the best possible sound.
(....and I didn't trust those in-ear-monitor thingies.. and the Stax 4070 is not isolating enough for my requirements)
--> hence : this L3000 came along and I'd say: it does the job very well indeed within my expectations !
(...but I still way prefer the O 2 for normal head phone listening !!!)

Regards

Urs

PS: It's my first closed/dynamic high-end phones with dedicated amp, so I don't feel qualified to comment on any amp-related matters, etc
PPS: they DO look nice too...!!!

Funny coincidence, because it was actually the L3000 for 1000€ which i mentioned earlier. Its what chamix wanted to have without the CEC amp

The CEC he is using got mod especially for the L3000 but it's switchable so the amp sounds great with other headphones too.

.... The Omega2 make me curious again

What amp are you running it through?

bizkid,

I'm using the 007T tube driver.

...which adds another "little difference" to the L3000 system (closed/dynamic and solid-state amp versus open/electrostatic & tube driver) one couldn't create a bigger difference, I guess

BTW: Bizkid: where you the other bidder in that deal ?

Nope it was someone from Munich i think. So this is a little OT now but how deep is the soundstage on the O2 vs the L3000?

Im sure its alot wider but i enjoy a deep well layered soundstage more than a wide one

If it has even both, it would be perfect
