There's tons of people that even after spending $X on higher end models, they love their SR80/60 a lot.

I've read many opinions that the SR125 is considered the "sweet spot" in the SR series in terms of performance/value. Having never heard them, I can't speak to whether or not that's true, but I think you should be careful about so quickly disregarding them. To the OP, get both. You won't regret it.

That was ONE user. Most people think it's not a significant upgrade for the price to SR60/80. That's if you're planning to go neither 60/80 nor 225.

The sound is different and the Alessandro's usually get more praise then them.

Or the px100 is not nearly as good sounding as ksc-75 and the ksc-75 is nearly as good as HD-600

Get the 60's. I have the ksc75's and sr80's and I say get the 60's . They will be better than the 75's. No doubt. The 75's are alright and better than the px100's but the 60's are better than both.I listened to a pair of 60's when I bought the 80's so I can't do a direct comparison. I only listened to them for one song and that was 3 years ago now. Still I say get the 60's.Grado makes nice headphones. That is all I have for main cans.

I've known that koss ksc75 were a highly rated headphone for a while, but in a recent thread that I just read some were saying the grado sr 60s are not worth it because the ksc 75 are almost just as good. What are your takes on this? Should I just skip the grado sr60s and buy ksc 75s? Just so you know this is my first step into the audiophile world.

In this class i have/had/ KSC75/PortaPro/Px100/SR-60.
I can say that 75/Porta/Px100 are in the same class with minor sonic differences between them.
SR-60 is in a completely superior class. Listening side by side i cant make one thing that i could say that's in common for ksc75 and sr-60.

I prefer the Koss to the PX100 but the 60/iGrado is a half step above that.

I take that back. Get the 80's. What is a few dollars more and I know they are better than the 75's.

I have both. I use the KSC-75 plugged into my Zune to walk to and from where I park to my office (about 3/4 of a mile). The sound is nice. I use the Grados plugged into the Zune when reading in bed. The sound is significantly better. Deeper, extended highs, more presence.

YMMV

I don't know about the KSC-75's, but I'd take the Koss "SportaPro's" any day over the i-Grado, or the SR60's. In fact I'd likely prefer the "SportaPro's" to any Grado under the SR325 model, especially for portable use.

the KSC75 come on sale for $10-15 here. it literally is a waste to NOT try them. personally, i spend more on food everyday on campus than the price of the KSC75.
