Going for a budget-ish pair of studio monitors.
I do a small bit of producing (both recording guitar and all electronic with plugins and such) but these would be used primarily for listening to music and gaming. The gaming is far less important.

What I look for in a speaker is definitely having clarity and good separation over bass.
These would be my first set of monitors and I would be upgrading from Creative Gigaworks T20's.

I've got it down to two so far:
KRK RP5 RoKit G3
M-Audio BX8 D2

These two cost exactly the same when bought in this stand bundle, so whats the difference?
Desk space is obviously not an issue as they would be sitting on stands.
I'd be plugging them directly into my soundcard (Asus Xonar DG 5.1) via a 3.5mm to 2x RCA cable.

Any help is appreciated!

The M-Audio BX8 D2 claim to go deeper in bass response. Given the larger drivers, that is likely, although perhaps not quite as low as they claim (speaker manufacturers exaggerate with specs). But that doesn't mean that they will sound better overall; just probably deeper bass.

Then get the Rokkits 5s :)

However, you might consider Rokkit 6 G2s. They are on closeout because of the G3 version release this year.
