KRK 6400 vs 8400 vs sony V6

If you just want to enjoy your music and not analyze it, the DJ100 is a little bit more fun to listen to for me.
It has nearly the detail of the KRK KNS-8400, but has more bass, less treble and maybe more forward mids.

Until you get M50 pads for it, it's not as comfortable as the 8400 with it's memory foam pads.

Can't go wrong with the KRKs, but it depends on the sound signature you like. They're not warm and "musical" to some. I love them though.
The 8400 isn't super easy to drive and looks a bit goofy for portable use.

If I had to only keep one headphone between the 8400 and DJ100, I'd pick the DJ100. The 8400 is technically better though.

6400 has a little more mid-bass than the 8400, less forward sub-bass volume and smoother treble. Soundstage on the 8400 is better..somehow.

V6 just isn't very balanced sounding too me. Too much bloated mid-bass and treble. Seems there's a recession in the mids somewhere. Slightly.

So overall the dj100s are superior for around a $70 price tag. The 6400 are around the same price and the 8400 are the most, but if the dj100s are better i will probably grab one of these

Would the dj100 koss headphones be a lot better with an amp if so would a cheap amp like the e6 be enough

Depends on the source really. 90% of portable devices can drive it just fine.
I've had good luck with the Sansa View, Clip, Ipod Touch 2G and Ipod Classic 3G.

I do like the E5 with it, but not when using a LOD cable.

Last question i looked at  DJ100s, for an overall headphone with good sound stage how does the dj100s with fiio e6 compare with the audio technica a700s

KRK's are GARBAGE in my opinion.  One of the thinnest sounding headphones I have ever heard to date.

v6 or M50

Guess you need to try more headphones then...with decent amping and a DAC it's anything but thin sounding. Yes, thinner than some.

Not everyone likes a warm sounding headphone or something like the usual Sennheiser type sound..

A headphone is "garbage" because it's thinner sounding than your precious M50s or whatever you're using this week.

If the KRKs are thin sounding to you, I'd definitely stay away from the DT-880, K702 or some Grados.

Cant comment since I have never owned either.  But I would point out the v6's are used by artists and studio's all over the world. (FLAT RESPONSE HEADPHONES)

The DJ100's are not.

I would really try to save another $30 or so and go with a pair of M50's.

Its more like 60 dollars more, the dj100 are 75 and the m50s are 130(cheapest i found). If its really worth the extra money i will go for it
