I would like to know that myself. Any comparo with a recent medium CD Player / DAC? Something like the Cambridge 840 or the pro DAC's (Apogee, Lavry, Benchmark, whatever) ...

I own one with the delta-9 upgrade board. Very nice machine for its time.
Top of the line burr-brown dac's for the time and krell standard all discrete
pure class A output circuitry. A tank for sure. Haven't used it in about 5 years.
Current model sony sacd player blows it away in every single way.

But have you recently compared the Sony 5400ES to Krell 20i side-by-side?

Having listened to both, though in different systems, it's difficult to believe Sony "blows it away in every single way" with its op-amp output stage, especially in the bass extension and power, which is truly heroic with the Krell.
