Hi all.

I am looking for budget headphones primarily for listening to movies and music on my 4 yr old dell 510m inspiron laptop - which does not have a good sound card.

I had almost decided to go for Koss UR 40.

but then I came across Plantronics Audio 770 which gives 2 advantages-
1. mic.
2. USB Sound card.

now I am confused- should I go for the koss?

I do not want to compromise on sound quality. and I have a small budget
(I am going to buy from US, budget 50 USD)

thanks a lot

i have had both. the koss sounds great- same drivers as the ksc75. great highs and mids, tight little bass. the 370 and 770 sound horrid, shrill and no bass. but the mic is great

ok, thanks for the info. considering that I am going to use these on a 4 yr old dell inspiron, which does not have a separate sound card.

do you think my final choice should be Koss UR 40.

thanks a lot

P.S - is there any good headphone that comes with mic, gives good sound quality (as the Koss) and is cheap.

also I want to ask more thing, I read about Koss UR 40 reviews and found that the cord breaks easily.
was that the case with you also??
I do not need a long cord, but need a durable headphone.

what do you suggest??

i didnt have my koss long, and i am very ez on my stuff. the best sub 50$ headSET is the steelsound 4h -its only 25$ at newegg atm
Newegg.com - steelseries 4H Circumaural Gaming Stereo Headset - Headsets & Accessories
it has thin cords- but i use mine a lot and have had no problems. if u need durability -the steelsound 5hv2 is bulletproof but expensive

for headPHONES the best deal is a jvc harx700- 38$ at buy.com. very large and sounds better than anything under 100$. get a clip on mic with that and you r good to go

I had the Koss UR 40 for about a year and a half, maybe a little more, and nothing on it broke. My sister is still using the same pair (About 4 years now), and it's still completely fine.

But then, I also own a D5000 and the screws aren't even slightely lose after almost a year, so maybe I'm just immune to these problems.

I haven't heard the PX-100 or UR-40 but I recently got the JVC HA-RX900, and they have better detail then my Grado SR-60s also bigger soundstage and instrument seperation, and the sound just sounds much fuller in general. I believe these two headphones are a great buy if you can get them for $50.

the price of JVC HA-RX900 is three times the price of Koss UR 40, so even if the JVC is a little better, its not worth it, unless one can afford it.
and I want to buy a headphone for less than 50 USD including shipping. Koss UR 40 is for 30 USD including shipping. I can go till 50 USD, only if its worth it........
