Hey guys I am visiting New York city for a few days from Canada and would really liike to finally purchase these headphones.

Checked out a lot of places in Manhattan and couldn't find them, J&R was suggested.

Where has Headfi purchase them in Manhattan or Brooklyn?

Thank you. hope for quick reply:)

J&R store in NYC. It's downtown by world trade center, I'm sure they will have a bunch of other headphones you'd be interested if you're a frequent head-fier. I remember they have the portapro on the listening wall, along with the HD650 and HD598. Maybe you can visit the new 9/11 memorial around the area if you want to make it part of your trip?

Here is the location: http://www.jr.com/information/directions.jsp

and the memorial site (its free): http://www.911memorial.org/

Also if you meant there is an item called the "portapro+" I haven't heard of it and can't verify they have it. I know they have the regular portapro.

We did a lot of sightseeing today and I did go to J&R, unfortunately they only had the sportapro and not the portapro:frowning2: When we went around manhattan I checked in electronic shops I saw but no luck.

I saw someone wearing portapros on the subway on our way to brooklyn bridge this morning, too bad I didn't ask.
I tried the 598's at the store, damn nice pair. Saw a few people with Grado's as well.

Aww sorry you couldn't find them there. That's odd because last time I went to the J&R downtown they had the portapro on display. I don't remember seeing them anywhere else maybe someone else can help.

Just saw in your initial post you already mentioned J&R. My bad, I glanced over it.

Oh, you can try B&H photo, but I'd call up before you make a trip if its just for the one item. They say out of stock on their online store although if you happen to be in the area you can just stop in. From the reviews they said you can try on $1500 headphones there, I wonder what they have.

The Sportapro is basically the same as the Portapro, it just looks different. Imo the Sennheiser PX100-ii is probably a better headphone than the Portapro. I have  the Portapro, Sportapro  and the original PX100.
