I'm currently using Koss portapros and have no complaints whatsover. Would the 50 ohm Senn. HD555 be a significant upgrade? Or is it a small difference not worth the price difference? I'd like to hear your opinions before I fork over the $$$.

Long answer: You'll gain a lot in refinement, treble smoothness, soundstage, and balance.

Actually, it could depend. What's your source? Are you using an amp? What kind of music do you listen to? Will this be primarily for home or portable use?
