Koss KSC75 Mods?

Hey all,

After searching a bit for possible mods to my KSC75's, I decided to go ahead and do whatever mods possible all at once. What I'm thinking about so far is:

* Kramer mod [That's where you drill the holes in the grill, right?]

* Quarter mod [Cut a hole the size of a quarter in the foam, correct?]

* I also want to recable them, but as of right now I am sooooooo completely lost as how to do it and where/what to get. Suggestions?!

* I also want to paint the case thingy black... just because it is so much cooler.

Anything else I should look into as mods for these?

Oh yah, I also have the HD201's... they just didn't cut it [they ARE amped btw.

1. Yes, be careful with the drivers when you remove the grill.
2. Yes. Keep in mind that a quarter modded KSC75 exposes the grill mechanism, allowing ear flakes, lint and sweat to enter.
3. No idea either. Ask Kramer.
4. Go ahead and make sure you post some pics. Also keep in mind that painted drivers may color the sound. People have done sharpie mods on the gray casing.

I definitely don't recommend the Sharpie mod. It rubs off way too easily.

i am also looking to color my ksc75s, what is good to use for color, i want something better looking and more permanent than sharpies? would automotive paint work?

Now that you mention this, I think I'm going to do it to. Just use Krylon Fusion(?) spray paint. It's designed to bond with plastics on a molecular level for better application. I would try that. Actually maybe I'll try it tomorrow. If I do I'll let you know how it turns out.

The problem may be that I don't think you can remove the driver from the housing and there are holes in the back. So, you will end up spray painting your driver.

there is method involving reversed painters tape and qtips but its extremely bothersome. I'll try to paint them with a brush when I get my hands on mine

In order to recable you would want to get:

1 mini jack [male]
either somestarquador its equivilantwire [pre done with four wires so no braiding]
or about 50 ft of silver coated copper wire, off ebay, im going to use 26 ga
Some heat shrink
tech flex if you want it.

Re-cable? Both Drew of Moon Audio and Zach of Enigma Audio will re-cable for you. I have re-cables by both (Blue Dragon by Drew and pure silver from Zach) and both re-cabled cans are really good. Re-cabling really opens these things up immensely (if I can remember now!). You don't get quite the sparkling highs and really deep lows with better headphones, but they sound pretty spectacular. What amazes me are the separation and soundstage. Who would have thought??

I am listening with a RWA iModded 4th gen 60gb iPod photo, Wyvern AG16 and a Xin SMIV. With the impedance and bass boost switches enabled, these cans sound really nice.

The only reason I want to recable is because I got the one with the volume control on it... and I wouldn't mind it being a bit longer.

if you don't mind the cable length...or maybe get an extension cable?

just "break" your ksc75 and mail them back to koss and ask for a pair without the volume control

This convinced me to go ahead and recable my KSC 75s, the process was simple with the soldering posts being alot bigger than i expected.

What about flexibility? Can you use them in a portable setup without problems?
