Hi, noob here

i just got some Koss KSC-75s. they sounded good, but i decided i was just gonna let it sit there and play music for a while on my ipod. i left it playing music for a couple hours at a high volume (but i couldnt hear crackling)

a few hours later i took i put them back on and i noticed it was now crackling. if i turn the volume up and down, i can hear a sound (like rie crispy treats popping when u add milk), best i can describe it, like a crackle. oh and also, since other people were being disturbed, i put a pillow over the headphones for thosefew hours, dunno if that did anything.

anyone know what's going on, freaken, did i bust them? the volume was loud but still i i could put them on my ears and listen to them (about 8/10s to 9/10s on a ipod nano volume meter)

thank you, hope someone can help

I dont know, but that happens sometimes to my KSCs. They are really sensitive and fragile so the drivers can get bent if you blast it too much or there is a loud bass hit. Just blow on the headphones, where the driver is. A quick burst of air should do it.

try the cans with a different source, and some different cans with your iPod and see where the problem goes.

Also, another rule of thumb with KSC75s is to keep the driver clean of hair. happens all the time. Pull the foamies off and see if you have hair in the driver. If not, Koss might still replace them, since you didn't obviously take them apart like the guy with the dented driver in the other thread.

IMHO KSC75 sounds pretty good straight outta the box. I would just burn 'em in with normal use next time.

Hope you get things workin' out.

Take advantage of Koss's lifetime warranty. I think you pay something like a $6 fee in addition to sending them back to Koss, and Koss will send a replacement.

Did you check the drivers for hair yet, man? You'd be surprised how bad (and how similar to what you're describing) a single errant hair in a 75 driver will sound.

I was getting similar crackling with my dented drivers. Pull off the foams and look for hairs sticking out from the foam on the other side, or stuck in the black driver guard. They might have got dented from whatever music you were using, too loud/too much bass. If you feel brave enuff, pop off the black plastic guard and have a look-see. I used a very thin jewelers screw driver to pry it off slowly.
