I think that this nutube probably is not going to hit the market.
Seems like an too niche product with its footprint vs traditional tubes

Here's another story on it...   if you google the vacuum tube that it replaces (12AX7) then from what I see its low power for pre amps... 
so for headphone use you could design the nutube into the preamp section driving a standard solid state output amp and you would have a Solid State Tube circuit....    would be super nice to be able to have something like this in the headphone amp world... they also state that it is good for battery operation

that's why i was posting this... i'm not in general a big fan of new AMAZING breakthroughs
but the extremely low power consumption sounds really like something, that my 150 Ohm cans could use.

The kit has a good muses8920 opamp but you can use other compatible opamps, i use a muses01 opamp. The amp sounds very nice, a mix between a very tubby millet portable hybrid amp and a class a solide state amp. Similar to the Fostex hp-v1 portable tube amp but with better resolution, sweet highs and not overly smooth mids, nice wide soundstage, lows are fine and deep but not super sharp. I really like the sound of the Korg Nutube, a great kit for a nice price, best with vocal music. super work, thanks kodera2t.

Thanks for the impressions. I had an HP-V1 that failed and am still on the hunt for another good hybrid amp.
 
I was thinking of ordering that same Nutube kit a couple months ago but wasn't sure I'd be able to complete it. Also wondered how noisy (hiss) the finished amp would be? Figured I'd put that ~$90 toward the Apex Sangaku or the Oriolus NT-1.

A friend of mine got the Nutube kit and what he found is that if it's floating in the air like in rumina's picture it's incredibly microphonic. Having it on a adaptor board will solve it.
 
I have heard it and using it as a preamp I am ... just say ... Not impressed. Hiss is no issue but it's just a waste of time.
