as crazy as that seems, the science behind it isn't overly complicated. They just expressed(at least as I understand it) a fluorescent protein(probably from jellyfish) coupled with a driver system to express it in the epithelial cells of the skin.

Or they could have just inserted it ubiquitously...hmm

We could use a cat that glows in the dark. We have three cats, all mostly dark colored, with dark carpeting, in a house that's pretty dark. We are constantly walking on cats in the dark.
