400 layers of 15n20 and 1075 steel in this Bowie I made. Based on Reazin Bowie's personal carry. 11" of blade, 16.5" overall. I carried it daily for 5 years and just passed it on to my senior student. I now carry a Carrigan Bowie I made in it's place.

I am not so much into EDC or folding knives, more into Japanese or German cooking knifes for example my Yoshimi Kato Aogami Super Nashiji 210 mm with blond buffalo ferrule and octagonal rosewood handle:

or my Shigeki Tanaka Aogami #2 150mm Petty with blond buffalo ferrule octagonal rosewood handle handle and triple Ginmaki

The only folding knife I have is an A.G. Russel Santoku: :)

That said, actually this is my most used knife:

Exceed-Designs-TiRant-Razor-Knife.jpg

Its the: Exceed Designs TiRant Razor v3, and takes those standard razor blades from carpenter knives. It's perfect for opening boxes and little tasks around the house. I hate my other knives getting dull from such tasks, so this knife is perfect. Also the flipping action is very satisfying - highly recommended!

My dad gave me this about 18 years(?) ago. He bought a lot of this guy's knives back then, and would give me some. I like this one the most. I guess now, the guy sells them mostly at gun shows. I think he still has a display store in Astoria, though.

This is a huntin' knife. By some dude named, uhm, "Buck". I think he's an uncle. Smokes cigars. Good with kids. The in-laws hate him.
It's called the "664 Alpha Hunter Pro", made with S35VN steel, has a walnut dymalux handle.

This was the Army Issue EGW Knife knife my Father carried as a Ranger in the Korean Conflict working behind enemy lines.
What do you get when you combine an Army Ranger, a Thompson sub-machine gun, that knife, a bottle of bennies and turn them loose?
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

Nature or Nurture?
It's in the blood.

He graduated 8th Grade. I quit school in 10th Grade,so technically have a 9th Grade Education. (Boy, did I ever rub that in the nose of the snooty and the fact they went to college to learn what I taught myself to do._

He liked knives. I'm crazy about them, you'd have to be crazy to give me one. Someone asked me about that knife "Is it supposed to be that sharp? "

That is his MP pin with the wartime motto of the MP's. The peacetime motto is Honor Fidelity Justice. Tip:. A cowboy hat offers no protection whatsoever from a quick doubletap of a US Army nightstick. He was also in the Navy. When you like hurting people you go where there's a chance to do it. Like, Public Housing.

He did bennies (US Army issue Amphetamines) and continued to do so when driving cross country semi. I did them with him. That's what a normal Father and Son do together to bond. I know, my Step Did and I did them, too.

He was in Court Ordered Anger Management when he died at the age of 83. Korea irritated his mean bone, permanently. He was never able to conquer his demons, I learned to love mine.

@Trihexagonal thank you for an AWESOME post! How wonderful that you have this special piece from your dad!

I inherited a small number of tools from my grandfather OBM but due to moving around so much I haven't seen them in decades.

Anyway, family history is priceless!

I've got a Half-Sister that is into it and knows all about it. She said he was mentioned in some book and received some commendation but I don't know what it was and can't find it online.

I saw pix she had of his people coming over on the boat from Scandinavia and gave her his dogtags from the Army and Navy, but that knife was mine and didn't mention having that.. She got a bunch of guns and said he used to chase them all around with guns. If he had wanted to shoot them he wouldn't have been chasing them but you better run.

Wow, those are gorgeous. Awesome!
Do you sell them, or just make them as a hobby?
A little bit of both. Started out as a hobby, but people keep asking me to make them knives so it’s more like a non-profit business now.

I don’t charge enough for it to really pay for itself and frankly, there’s a lot more profitable activities I could be doing, but it’s relaxing and I enjoy making things.

An 11" Mago Italian made OTF (Out-The-Front) stiletto switchblade with dagger blade, it's 9" clone and a 9" version with black blosters and bayonet blade.
The 11" is easier to hold and push the action button and my favorite, but too long for legal carry carry concealed, the black one matches everything I wear.
