Hey Holden!
Thanks very much for helping!
So, I checked the motherboard, and I'm 100% sure the onboard audio card is off. Although there are no jumpers, I ran AIDA32 and it couldn't find any onboard audio card, so I guess that can give some certainty.
In the audio control panel, all I can see is the DAC, and it has all those enhancements disabled.
I also followed the tutorials you sent me.
What I get is the same as always with my HiFiMan EF2a: volume is still controlable through Windows.
Interesting enough, I tried connecting another DAC. This actually is Phillips stereo with USB input.
With the Phillips running, it bypassed the Windows volume control!
Do you think the problem is with the HiFiMan? Does the PCM2702 supports bypassing through WASAPI?
BTW, I made sure that all the settings were the same with both the Phillips and the HiFiMan.
Thanks again!!
Stefano
