I was originally contemplating the x10's, but the price point on the S4 is compelling.

I've read every thread I can find on both but no direct A/B comparison. My impression is that the sound signature and level of detail is comparable.

Has anyone given both of these a demo?

Had the X10, liked it okay. Comfort was great, SQ very good. Got the S4 for my wife, didn't like it out of the box. Burned it in for oh, 100 hours, on my extra notebook. Now, I love it. Sold the X10.

I didn't do much A/B listening, but to me, the price difference was not there. I still really love the S4s (use the UM56 custom sleeves with them as an added bonus). The bass is rich, deep and a little forward, but good. The mids and highs (which were my initial problem, harsh), are smooth now.

I just could not justify the price difference when I had both. I got like $150 for the X10s and paid $79 for the S4s. A very good deal in my view. Others may disagree.
