Klipsch Promedia 2.1 vs bookshelf speakers

How would you compare Promedia 2.1 to Paradigm Atoms with a T-amp. I'm thinking about an upgrade, but these are the best PC speakers that I've had and honestly i don't know how much of a difference tehre will me be once i upgrade to bookshelves. I see that Klipsch Promedia get great reviews when they are compared to other PC speakers. Nobody reallly compared them too even the cheapest bookshelves. Do you think that it will be worth it to upgrade to Emu 0404 T-amp and Paradigm Atoms. Thanks

I have not heard the Axioms but I have owned two sets of Klipschs including the 2.1s. The 2.1s were quite good for computer speakers but they were bass heavy and lacked in the mid range. To me they just weren't musical.

From what I've read, Axioms (generally speaking) are well regarded for their mid-range but need a sub to shine in the low end. This would add some expense to the set up.

If I was looking to redo my own computer sound system, and wasn't too price sensitive, I'd go with the Axioms. Until then I'll keep using my Klipsch's for gaming and my headphones for music.

Couple years ago when I upgraded to my Paradigm Monitor 5s, I had klipsch promedia 4.1s, for music, and it was well worth it. There is absolutely no comparisson between any current pc speaker on the market and a decent set of bookshelves for music. Of course, you spend a lot more however.

I have the Klipsch 2.1 at work. They are very nice and bassy. At home I have the Klipsch 5.1 GMX..I think they're called...(they are the ones that look all cool.) They are incrediblye clean and articulate...lean on bass. But you can chain subs with it, which is sweet. I hooked up my old sub to it and it warmed the sound right up and added all the bass I would need. I didn't think they were as good as the 2.1 at first but over time they mellowed a bit, weren't so harsh, and they're clearly more detailed and refined than the 2.1s.

I found all the Klipsch (2.1, 4.1, 5.1) to be too boomy and bloated sounding--with a seriously sucked-out mid range (all computer speakers sound sucked-out to me) Same with the Logitechs. But the Klipsch GMX is a whole new direction. For some reason (control unit, 100 watt rating, probably) they didn't get a whole lot of attention and thus can be had pretty cheap -- but these things are quite the performers, and are so clean and very loud despite it's low wattage rating. For the price they're worth a serious look, if you can find them. Easily one of the most underrated finds in this market.

I upgraded from klipsch ultras to Paradigm titans and atoms. The difference was simly amazing. It was a huge leap in sound quality, especially at low volume levels. They even have substantial bass extension. They simply destroy the ultras sats.

btw, I'm selling my atoms in order to get paradigm floorstanding speakers.

Can you get the Titans? They will have a bit more extension than the Atoms, which will come in useful because the Atoms don't go too low. Either one will be heads and shoulders better than the ProMedia 2.1. I have the ProMedia 2.1 and the Monsoon PM-14 (which I find to be better than the Klipsch). I also have the psb Alpha, which can be described as the direct competitor to the previous version of the Titan. Both of my PC speakers cannot begin to compare with real "hi-fi" bookshelf speakers like the Alpha, Atom, or Titan.

I've owned 2 paris of Klipshs (2.1 & 4.1) and have heard the Paradigm Titans. It was a long time ago, but I remember being far more impressed by the Paradigms then with my promedias. I'm not sure what promedias are going for used these days, but I do think using the Sonic (which I own but have never listened to) with an affordable pair of monitors will give you far better sound.
