I've noticed recently that my set of 3-4 year old Promedia 2.1's has developed a low hum from the subwoofer speaker. It's quite faint, so usually I can only hear it if I put my ear up to it, but sometimes when the room is completely silent I can hear it too.

Is this buzz a sign of the apocalypse? Should I be shopping for a replacement? Is this repairable? Or, has this always been there and I just never noticed it before?

I've moved these speakers back and forth from college several times so is it possible things got knocked loose during transit?

I love these speakers and I just want my set working at 100%. Thanks for your advice in advance!

Ground loop hum, my Monsoon sub has it bad and my ProMedia sub has none. You can try different wall socket, ground cheater plug (not really safe because then you have no ground), ground loop isolator between computer to ProMedias input. Last option has worked best for me in the past. Radioshack sells them.
