If you have a source with volume control or own a tube preamp already. try good old classe power amp with your k1000. it is better than the flying mole SA-50 digital amp, T-amp, and super T that I tried. it even compare favoribly against my EL84 audiomat arpege reference! yes, classe doesn't have the magical midrange of el84 or 300b tube amp known for, but classe has fast and impactful bass(being a solid state!). high is just airy and crisp and clear!

try to find classe 70 and you will thank you!

Great advice!
Vintage speaker amplifiers may sure be the way to go for a budget solution to drive the K1000.

I was lucky enough to find a used Aleph 3 made by a DIY guru at Audiogon for $400. Things like that pop up rarely,but the vintage amps if matched correctly sound fantastic at a low price. Thanks for the info OP
