Hey everyone,

I'm still kinda new to all this high quality audio business

so far, all i have is a heavily modded xfi xtreme music with a cheap set of 5.1 speakers. recently, i got a new laptop and i can get optical out from it, but i'm not sure how to use that source to its fullest

i know that i need a DAC to convert the optical signal to analog output for speakers.. so can anyone recommend me a decent one? would anyone recommend against using a hometheater receiver as the DAC? i also need a nice set of speakers so any reocmmendations would be greatly appreciated
