Any other parents of young kids here?  I'm looking into headphones, but given that kids shouldn't listen to anything too loud, it restricts the choices somewhat.  I've looked at the Etymotics Ety Kids, and a few others so far.  What say you audiophile parents?

Also, I've come across the following set of cans that makes me think of the Fostex T50RP.  Pretty sure there aren't planars inside these,  but don't these just beg to be modded.  :p

I'm in the same search.
(disclaimer - my personal collection runs over 24 pairs of all flavors:
IEM, planar, electrostatic, dynamic, Grado, too many amps to admit)

Right now my four-year old has an Amazon Fire tablet I've loaded with curated video for air travel,
and we discovered that it is volume-limited (which I've only tried briefly to modify),
so that kid-specific headphones are not loud enough for the airplane.

I got him some $20 Sonys at Inmotion, probably an MDRZX110 variant.
They are durable, fold flat, and the cord is really beefy.
However, they are on-ear.
Pro: they slip off & on easily, so we encourage him to remove them before talking.
Con: there is basically no isolation, and I personally find on-ear uncomfortable,
so I assume he feels the same way. :)

We have a long road trip planned for the summer,
and I dug out an iPod Touch so he can have his own tunes.

On the airplane the tablet is up all the way, which makes me cringe,
and in the car I suspect there will be quite a bit of leakage,
which Mom & I won't enjoy much.

Now looking around for something circumaural, light, low-cost, folding,
and Amazon Prime, so replacement on the road will be easy.

Monoprice 8323 is leading the pack, but I'd love input.

BTW, the JVC flats remind me too much of what United gave away for years,
and those were terrible.
