$50. Modern Model Ms. How can you go wrong? Even available in black.

Make sure to get the buckling spring version, none of this "quiet touch" crap--that's the same contact method used in any other keyboard nowadays. Total crap.

I'm all over that like white on rice. I remember hearing about them but couldn't remember the url.

"At first I was intrigued, but when I started using it two things happened: it was a joy to type and my colleagues looked at me like I was a superhero! I would not go back to a normal keyboard now."

For the original poster: My late (mid 90s?) Model M that I'm using has DRAINS, just for these types of occurances (earlier models didn't have drains). It's pretty awesome, really. I'll take a pic in a bit. These things are practically invincible, I kid you not. Sure, some of the earlier models than mine were slightly more invincible, but in the end that's just splitting hairs.

I have exactly the same keyboard (early-90's Lexmark-made Model M) and I love it, except its too loud for me to use for surfing while I'm suppost to be sleeping (then I have to use that craptacular on-screen keyboard). My dad got this used off eBay for me as a birthday present for about $30.

when my mouse died, i got a mouse/keyboard wireless combo for 40 bucks off a warehouse site somewhere - it's logitech and it works great - ah, the freedom of being able to move the junk around! plus the keyboard itself is nifty, i'd recommend it.

Yeah, Ebay has quite a few of them. Seems they go for about $20 +-$5 for ones in good condition. Pretty good deal. Karmalicious, you could pick one up and a generic keyboard (for use at night/around roommate/whatever) from wherever for $40 total. It's worth it.
