So, I have an HD555 sent to me in error by Digitally Unique. I thought I was ordering an HD580 (see infamous thread).

My question is simply this: should I keep the HD555 (which I've read, are great headphones), or should I return these and get the HD580 (which I've read, are a world of difference from the HD555)?

My PA2V2 is supposed to come in any day now (over a month wait to this day), and my sources are 1)1996 Panasonic PCDP, 2) iPod mini, 3) Creative Nomad Zen, and 4) Creative SB Live! 16bit. From my other thread, people seem to be saying that a PA2V2 pairs decently with the HD580, and that combo should outshine the PA2V2/HD555 combo.

But, since I already have a HD555 (paid $118 shipped, not the best deal but seems okay), and a HD580 is probably ~$150 shipped, I'd like some feedback to help make my decision.

my previous headphones are ex51, e2c, triports, and ksc75. i'm guessing either 'phone will be an improvement. the question is, will i be satisfied with the hd555, or will i be bugged by upgraditis and eventually spring for the 580's anyway?

TIA

Go for HD580 and a better amp than PA2V2 like GO-VIBE5 or XENOS 0HP REP!

I really couldn't stand the sound of the 555, which actually led me to hold out on getting a pair of senn's for quite some time.

The 580 changed all that...I say get it.
