I'm looking to possibly upgrade from my HD 555 since I've had this set of headphones for over 5 years and I feel like maybe it is time to change.
 
Are the Philips Fidelio X1 a good upgrade from the HD 555? I will use them primarily for PC gaming and music.
 
Would they need to be driven by a sound card or amp?
 
If it's not a viable upgrade, should I just keep my HD 555?
