Hey, sorry for this another post.
I have new AKG K701 and Soundcard ASUS Xonar Essence STX as amp.

I'm about to buy Heed Canamp, and then burn my headphones for like 1000hours.

And I would like to now what kind of quallity i'm about to get...
then I have 2 questions-

1) What kind of quallity the Canamp gives to K701, and what the difference between it and the STX amp?
2) What kind of difference the 1000 hours burning will give to k701? it does something with the soundstage and the details?

Thanks.

1)... Both the Canamp and the ST with the stock opamps give a lot of body to it and roll off the treble a little I suspect. At least the Essence ST do. This can be changed by different opamps of course.

Canamp have more power to drive them properly. I never owned the K701 with the Canamp and Essence ST at the same time but both where good matches for me. Don´t dare to compare them to deep.

2. I don´t know what ev burn in requirements there are. I bought mine used. Was said to have about 250-300h in them max. didn´t really notice any difference. If you wear down the ear pads you will get some more bass but that will take a very long time. Mine was still in pristine condition also when I sold them.

Canamp does give you more depth in the soundstage that is one plus.

You say that Canamp is not that better then STX amp?

Can´t say since I didn´t own them at the same time. Audio memory can fail you. Essence is another source then the one I ran on the Canamp as well which is another factor.

Everybody should know that the K701 needs at least 10000 hours before they show its full potential.

So next year in April you can start listening to them.

The point is that we don't understand you. Just enjoy these great phones from the very first minute you own them. Life is so short! If you should hear improvements than that's wonderful. Some phones do tend to open up after a couple of days or weeks. I have always liked those moments when I was struck by an improvement. Do yourself a favour and listen to your new K701! You can thank me later.

Edit: your edit makes things clear. We thought you were little bit crazy.
