Anybody have a list of exactly what's needed a for a good PIMETA build to drive akg k501 cans from a computer source? I'm having an engineer help me but I have to aquire the parts. Case, caps, the whole bit. -Thanks

OPA627/637 and a gain of around 6 (meaning R4 = 4.7k - 5.6k) works for me

I'm looking for options above what's listed on Tangent's schematic. Are the OPA627/637's about the only thing above and beyond a basic build that I should be considering? The k501's are kind of high imp. and I'm looking to build the best PIMETA I can for around $200. Any other suggestions?

It shouldn't be clipping.... what is the PSU?

That is weird cause the amp shpould be able to swing enough voltage for those cans without clipping when powered from a Elpac.
Do you know what the current draw is?

No input caps, blue velvet, OPA637/627, gain of around 7, double buffers on the gain channels and some good PSU caps should be all it takes.
