after wearing my fingers to nubs searching the web for every conceivable 300b amp I am going wit the coincident 300b frankenstein MKll.

Amps that were in the running were
Wavelenght Cardinal 300b
Wavelenght PX-25
Audio Art PX-25
Airtight 300b amp
Woo Audio 5

After all that I went with the Coincident based on the reports of best in class bass repsonse and extended highs without loss of midrange magic. The only rub is while coincident has a dealer network the amps are only available factory direct. I called over their and he reason is they are $5K direct and if there was a dealer network they would need to be $8-9K.

I'm not sure you could go wrong with any of the amps I had listed but I am looking to get out of "amp rolling" and get back to a steady rig. I went 15 years with the same rig and I'd like to put together another solid 5-10 year run at least.

I had also though of going the el84 route as I love thesound and tube rolling is considerably cheaper.

PS J-PAk you may want to think about using the axiom passive attenuator as opposed to the Melos. I have a Melos, currently DOA, and while I like them alot the sound was better with just a HQ paot in the signal path with my first watt F1

You finally decided. They look very nice. I can't find much info about them in the usual places. You should probably have them shipped straight here for the meet so we can see if the WA5 can keep up.

Are you going with WE 300b or something else. The EH Golds in there stock are supposed to be pretty good.

I actually won't have them until November that is when the next run is projected to be done, apparently these sell out pretty well in advance but we'll see if the sound lives up the pre sale hype

They come with great transformers and are v-capped

If Frank can finish the Melos I hope to have the WA5 V-capped by the meet.

Thanks for the info jp.

The Wavelength Cardinal monoblocks are high on my list to hear with the K1000. I don't have the Melos anymore, and I was considering a source upgrade which would have a nice built in preamp as well (Emm Labs DCC2 or Audio Aero Prima DAC SE).

The nice thing about the Cardinals is it would probably sound dynamite with the speakers I'm planning to get. I've read some good things about the Frankenstein as well.
