hi,

i'm having someone DIY a firstwatt F! for my k1000. he does notk now much about headphones and i dont know much about elextrical stuff.

he raised a concern about the grounding of the connection:
"you will be using the amp to power a set of headphones right? if yes then we may have a problem, the F1 has both of it's output "hot", meaning there is no common between the two channels. the problem will be how to connect your headphones to the amp since your akg plugs sleeve is ground."

anyone understand this?

am i correct in saying that the akg k1000 connected via the bare wires would be ok in this setup?

i plan to run this unbalanced for now.

thanks!

From an amp, I believe that you want to wire your K1000s just like a set of speakers with blue and red for right channel, and black and white for left. The red and white are '+', the blue and black are '-'.

Just have him build the amp and not worry about you using headphones. The K1000s are not your typical headphone, they were ment to be connected to speaker amps just like any other pair of speakers.
