I had the FXT-90's for about a year and they have simply been my favourite earphones for quite a while.  even trying on expensive models twice the price didn't make me wanna give them up.  However my wife shredded the poor thing when she borrowed it and ended up tearing the thing apart by accident.

RIP my sweet FXT-90... :'(

I'm looking for a new earphone upgrade for rock/hiphop/R&B and generally good for music that requires a strong bass to enjoy.  I am considering portable headphones and willing to pay up to $300ish for them.

any good recommendations?  I've been hearing good things about Grados...

What about the newer JVC FXZ100 and FXZ200?

The Sony EX (EX600, EX7550, EX1000), XB (XB90EX very bassy but crsip clear) series Dome Type dynamic drivers IEMs offers similar soundsignature to JVC FXT90 and they are (Sony) more detailed with good punchy bass and wider soundstage. The other IEMs like Grado GR10,JVC FXZ100, FXZ200, JVC FX700 (highly recommended if you want more deeper reverbing bass with more detailed mids, extended highs and wide soundstage), UM3x, UE TF10Pro, SM3, GR01 and GR07 are highly recommended too.

the XB90 has SIGNIFICANTLY more bass than the fxt90. I didn't like it for that reason so I'm anticipating it won't be a good choice.
